Stop the Anti-Voter SAVE Act
There’s a renewed push in Congress to pass the SAVE Act, legislation that would require voters to present specific citizenship documents, such as a passport or birth certificate, in order to register to vote.
Supporters claim it’s about “election integrity.” But the reality is far more troubling.
An estimated 21 million American citizens do not have a passport, birth certificate, or similar documentation readily available. For many people, including seniors, married women who have changed their names, rural residents, low-income families, and young voters, obtaining these documents can be costly, time-consuming, or logistically difficult.
Voting is a constitutional right. Creating new paperwork barriers that disproportionately impact eligible voters is not about strengthening democracy. It is about restricting access to it.
Let’s be clear:
When lawmakers attempt to reduce the number of eligible citizens who can vote, they are attempting to influence election outcomes. Policies that make it harder for Americans to participate in our democracy undermine the very foundation of representative government.
Existing systems already include safeguards to verify voter eligibility. The SAVE Act would add a new layer of bureaucratic obstacles that many eligible citizens would struggle to overcome without evidence of widespread noncitizen voting that would justify such sweeping restrictions.
This is not about security.
It’s about access.
And access to the ballot must remain broad, fair, and inclusive.
What You Can Do
On February 11, 2026, the House passed the SAVE America Act. The bill now moves to the Senate. Our Senators need to hear from constituents now. Lawmakers pay attention when voters speak up, especially when they know people are watching.

Hi, my name is [name], and I’m a constituent from [your town].
I’m calling to urge Senator [Husted or Moreno] to oppose the SAVE America Act. This bill is designed to block voters despite no evidence of widespread fraud and would create unnecessary barriers to voter registration.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
