Central Committee Special Meeting Minutes
August 4, 2026 – 7:00 p.m.

The Delaware County Democratic Party held a special meeting of the Central Committee on August 4th, 2026.

Present at the meeting were 54 individuals, including 49 members of the Central Committee and 5 visitors. County Party Chair Peg Watkins called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. and welcomed those present. After establishing that a majority of the Central Committee was present, Chair Watkins asked Tricia Moffitt to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chair Watkins discussed that the business of this special meeting is to nominate a candidate for Common Pleas Judge for Delaware County, due to the recent resignation of Judge Jim Shuck.

The floor was open for nominations.

Joe Bjorkman nominated Emma Mirlas-Jones; Julie Houston 2nd the nomination. With no other nominations, the floor for nominations was closed.

All Central Committee members present were in agreement; the nomination passed unanimously, with Board of Elections members Ed Helvey and Peg Watkins abstaining.

Motion to dismiss was raised by Brian Hester, 2nd by Ed Helvey.
