DCDP Committees

Candidate Support

Chaired by Joyce Bourgault, the Candidate Support Committee meets every month to plan how best to work with candidates. In 2023, there are more than 70 non-partisan races in Delaware County, which are an important way to “build our bench” to strengthen our local Democratic party. Petitions for these non-partisan races are not due until early August, but the LEAD Academy will start CandidateTraining in January. Training for campaign staff starts in March. Please consider attending meetings of your district school board, city or village council, or township trustees to learn about these local offices. You may discover your interest OR meet someone else who could be a good candidate. For more info, contact Joyce.

RAPID: Regions and Precincts in Development

Our regions reached out to many voters this campaign season, and also supported our candidates directly by distributing literature, yard signs, and hosting fundraisers. Regional meetings are an important way to get things done and connect with nearby Democrats. Get more info about the regions here.

Parker Scholarship

Since the 1980s, the Democratic Party in Delaware County have administered a scholarship program in memory of Robert E. Parker, one-time owner of a men’s clothing store in downtown Delaware. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of academic standing, extracurricular activities, community service, political activity, career goals and involvement in activities supporting diversity, the economically disadvantaged, LGBTQ issues, and racial reconciliation. For the 2023-24 academic year, applications and a FAFSA report are due to David Simmons, PO Box 356, Galena, OH 43021 by March 10, 2023.

The Communications committee manages this website, our Twitter account (@ohiodeladems), and the party’s email boxes. We contribute to the party’s public Facebook page, Democrats-onlyFacebook group, Executive Committee Facebook group, and mass emails. We work to keep our database of Democrats up to date. We want to be more active on Instagram, but we need a volunteer to help with that. If you love pictures and have some time to spend, contact us.
