Katy Shanahan, the Ohio State Director with All On The Line, will hold a webinar training on Monday, July 27, at 7:00pm. This organization is the program affiliate of former President Barack Obama U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s National Democratic Redistricting Committee and is dedicated to end gerrymandering and restore fairness to our elections and democracy.
The training on July 27 is called “Redistricting U” and is the next step in empowering the movement in the fight for fair maps. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution to map manipulation, so at Redistricting U, they will be empowering volunteers to be leaders in this fight and providing them with the knowledge, skills, and tools to impact redistricting. This is a national organization but they’ll be customizing it for us.
They will start with the basics — like differentiating redistricting and gerrymandering, talking about how the Census fits in, and discussing what it’s meant for Ohio to live under gerrymandered maps for the last decade. Then they will dive deep into the new redistricting process that Ohio will use in 2021 and end with some next step actions we can take to get fair maps next year.
