Spread Holiday Cheer with People in Need of Delaware County

For more than 70 years, People in Need, Inc. (P.I.N.) of Delaware County has helped families, children, and seniors celebrate the holidays with dignity and joy. Since 1954, their Holiday Clearinghouse has been a lifeline for local households, and this year, the need is greater than ever.

With recent threats to SNAP benefits, many families in our community continue to struggle. P.I.N. provides support year-round, but the Holiday Clearinghouse plays a special role. True to its name, P.I.N. carefully coordinates with other local agencies to ensure as many families and seniors as possible receive assistance, without duplication, so every donation goes further.

How You Can Help

This is our chance to step up, show that we are the party that cares about people, and meet some wonderful volunteers along the way.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Individuals and groups can register through P.I.N.’s SignUpGenius. You can volunteer as a general helper or select from a variety of roles, including Youth Service Day, Senior Distribution Day, or even serving as an elf in Toy Land or Coat Land. Whatever your skills, there’s a place for you to make a difference.

Donate Food at Our November 20 Meeting:
We are collecting non-perishable food items for P.I.N. at our meeting on November 20. Please double-check expiration dates and avoid glass containers. Our volunteers will deliver the donations directly to P.I.N. A list of this year’s most-needed items is available on their site.

Become a Sponsor
P.I.N. is also seeking sponsors at levels ranging from $1,000 to $15,000. Because of your generosity, DCDP will send a combined gift of $1,125 to P.I.N. to help sponsor their Holiday Clearing House food drive.

Upcoming Volunteer Days

P.I.N. needs volunteers to sort, organize, and pack donations December 3–12, weekdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. On Thursday, December 11, seniors may pick up their gifts from P.I.N.’s warehouse (138 Johnson Drive, Delaware) or request delivery.

Family Distribution Day takes place on Sunday, December 14, when volunteer elves help Santa distribute gifts. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and can work in specific areas, serve as general helpers, or assist families in choosing gifts.

Share the Joy

Whether you donate, volunteer, or help spread the word, your participation makes a real difference. P.I.N.’s Holiday Clearinghouse is not only impactful, it is fun, festive, and a heart-warming way to brighten the season for neighbors who need it most.
