Sherrod Brown Is Back: Running for Senate in 2026

Sherrod Brown is making a comeback! The longtime Ohio Senator, who lost re-election in 2024, just announced he’s jumping back into the race—this time in the 2026 special election.

Brown will be facing Senator Jon Husted, the Republican who was appointed to fill the seat left open when J.D. Vance became Vice President. Whoever wins in November 2026 will finish out Vance’s term, then face voters again in 2028.

In his announcement, Brown said:

“I didn’t plan to run for office again. But when I see what’s going on, I know I can do something about it for Ohio. That’s why I’m running for Senate, because even in these challenging times, I still believe if you stand up for workers, treat people with respect, and always fight for Ohio, you can actually make a difference.”

Ohio voters are in for a high-stakes showdown in 2026.
