Republicans’ ridiculous ballot language

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose demonstrated, yet again, the contempt that he and other Ohio Republican politicians hold for the truth and the will of the voters. In a completely partisan vote, the Republicans on the Ohio Ballot Board approved LaRose’s description of the anti-gerrymandering amendment that will appear on the November ballot as a measure that would “repeal constitutional protections against gerrymandering” and “establish a new taxpayer-funded commission of appointees required to gerrymander the boundaries of state legislative and congressional districts.”

LaRose is a member of the Ohio Redistricting Commission that would be abolished by the amendment, and one of the Republicans who voted multiple times in favor of maps that were rejected as unconstitutional by the Ohio Supreme Court in 2022.

Citizens Not Politicians, the group that sponsored the current amendment, said it would challenge the deceptive language in court.
