Congratulations to ODP Chair Liz Walters, who has accepted a position as CEO of TargetSmart,  a prominent Democratic political data firm based in Washington, D.C. This new position will allow Walters to continue to live in Ohio and support Democrats here.

Following her election in January 2021, Liz Walters has repaired financial weaknesses of the Ohio Democratic Party and improved its organizational and financial strength. A new Chair will be able to thrive on this base as they prepare for the important races in 2026.

Selecting a new Chair will be the job of the state Executive Committee, a body of 152 members that includes DCDP Chair Peg Watkins and Vice Chair Joydeep Gupta. The process to choose a successor will include several opportunities for Executive Committee members to hear from prospective candidates via zoom sessions and one-on-one communication. On June 10, the state Executive Committee will meet to select our new state chair.
