Our community has a proud tradition honoring civil rights hero Marin Luther King, Jr., life and legacy. As we approach Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 18, 2021, things will look slightly different.

Delaware

The Delaware County Democratic Party has long supported the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast in Delaware, hosted by the Delaware County Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee & Ohio Wesleyan University. This year, the event will be virtual and the party encourages all its members to attend and support the event financially!

This event is the main source of funding for scholarships for graduating high school seniors in the area. Since the event will be virtual, they are asking for contributions to its scholarship fund. Checks may be sent to: MLK Celebration Committee, C/O Jennifer Ruhe, Willis Education Center, 74 W. William St., Delaware, Ohio, 43015.

The Committee announced it will hold a virtual presentation on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 on Ohio Wesleyan University’s social media platforms. Follow their Facebook page to get updates.

Westerville

In Westerville, Leadership Westerville and the MLK Legacy Project will hold its 16th Annual Westerville Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration virtually and free to the public on Jan. 18 at 8:00 am.

The theme for 2021 is “The Moral Imperative to Love.” It is free to the public but you are encouraged to make a contribution. More information may be found here.
