The Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) and partner organizations have worked hard to get the attention of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the DNC noticed! They announced that Ohio will join its list of target states in 2020! This means that ODP will be ramping up their campaign and organizing teams in April and really shows that Ohio is a competitive state. We expect some serious support here in Delaware County as the suburbs are trending blue at an impressive rate. The better informed you are about local Democrats or other supporters, the more coordinated this campaign can be.
Voting in the Primary has already started – you can help your precinct neighbors by letting them know what is on their ballot locally. We expect more voters to identify themselves as Democrats by asking for a Democratic ballot in the Primary. (Preliminary information shows a flip of about 3% Republican to Democrat statewide.)
In addition to the race for President, we Democrats have two candidates for U.S. House of Representatives District 12. You can read about them on our party website, their individual websites, or meet them at various personal appearances. Each of our two Ohio House districts have Democratic candidates: Rachael Morocco for the 67th and Steve Mount for the 68th.
This round there are also two write-in candidates for Delaware County Commissioner. Jacob Fathbruckner is seeking the term that commences on January 2, 2021, and John Hartman is the write-in candidate for the term commencing January 3, 2021. You will need to type in these names (not perfectly, but clearly) on your ballot in order to make them count and you MUST make sure to match up the term dates correctly. We expect to be able to get them each 50 votes with no problem, but more would be encouraging.
If you are a Central Committee rep, reach out to your Democratic neighbors. BIG THANKS to those of you who have already sent letters, postcards, and even knocked doors in your neighborhoods. With the Olentangy Schools Bond Issue on the ballot, many voters are energized to go to the polls. Take this opportunity to get to know them – we will need them again when it’s time to support our Presidential nominee. Find more ideas in our Central Committee Guide.
It’s still true that we are stronger together.
P.S. We have a few tickets left for the ODP Legacy Dinner on March 15, with Featured Speaker Congressman Joe Kennedy. If you are interested in attending, at a cost of $225 per ticket, please e-mail John Schmarr at firstname.lastname@example.org
