Stars Aligned for Boffo Party Fundraiser
The stars were aligned on July 18 for the third annual Catch a Rising Star fundraiser. The Delaware County Democratic Party held the most successful fundraiser in party history, hosting 100 guests who helped deliver record net proceeds of $9,194.
The elegant Scioto Reserve Country Club in Powell was the backdrop for powerful speeches delivered to an enthusiastic crowd. Franklin County Recorder Danny O’Connor (right), Dublin Ohio House Representative Dr. Beth Liston, and Ohio Democratic Party Vice-Chair, Rhine McClin were warmly received by the guests. The speakers graciously mingled with guests both before and after their addresses from the podium. Local candidates were also present showing their party support and talking to voters.
Upon arrival, guests were entertained by Columbus jazz guitarist Mike McGannon. Other highlights of the evening were chances to ham it up in the photo booth (like Karen Rainey and granddaughter Sofia at left), and bidding on an array of silent auction items. A surprise donation from Danny O’Connor of OSU football tickets spurred a spirited live auction. Total proceeds from the auctions were $1,402.
Sponsorship donations were driven by Chair Peg Watkins’ challenge seeking ten $500 donors. Seven $500 donors combined with 11 other sponsors for a total of $5,850. Ticket sales added another $5,125 for gross proceeds of $12,377.
The Fundraising Committee was delighted with response to the event. Sincere thank you’s are extended to everyone who attended, sponsored, and promoted the event to their friends and neighbors. Plans to host another Catch a Rising Star evening in 2020 have already started.

We look forward to seeing everyone back next year plus many more, as we prepare to follow the mantra of speaker Rhine McLin (left): V.O.T.E. Vote Out Trump Expeditiously!
